As a result of oral history and place-based research conducted in my course, (Dis)Placed Urban Histories, in 2017 and 2018, I worked with Women’s Housing and Economic Development Corporation (WHEDco) in the South Bronx to develop signage and maps for a walking tour of sites proposed by community members as “places of significance.” The project has already resulted in an on-line archive using Omeka and a series of entries in the history app, Clio. Learn more about the project at WHEDco’s own web site where the team there has already developed several markers and a walking tour. Here’s a sign below!
